Qualified Positions
CNC Machinist
I have 3 years of experience setting up, maintaining, and operating HaaS 3 and 4 axis Mills with the NGC control, Milltronics 3 axis mills with the Centurion 5,6,7,8 controls, and experience with other powered equipment often seen in a CNC manufacturing facility, such as lathes, band saws, drill presses, table saws, etc.
I have had experience operating many types of forklifts as well, from 20 foot tall diesel CATs in the arctic North Slope, to Amazon's high-tech battery powered 40-ft lifting capacity PITs, to smaller propane and gasoline forklifts.
Media And Communications Equipment Specialist
Whether you're a video publisher or a thriving entertainment group, I have the attention to detail and technical understanding needed to get your A/V equipment connected correctly, and keep it working accurately for all of your recording sessions.
In 2006, I briefly operated a small DIY radio station in rural Kasilof Alaska that supported listeners calling in to be on-air.
Detective and Criminal Investigator
With the technical experience necessary to perform advanced digital forensics exfiltration, I am ideally positioned to excel in today's world of increasing white-collar crime. I have also attended professional seminars on criminal forensics including material on blood-spatter analyses and forensic pathology.
Power Plant Operator
With a background and practical experience working with systems from 12v DC to 20,000v AC, I understand the risks and technical theory behind the electrical systems that power our world. With a background in cybersecurity as well, I can also assist with internal audits to reduce the chance of cyberattacks.
Powerhouse, Substation, & Relay Maintenance
I'm not afraid of heights, and I have a healthy respect for high voltages! In today's high-tech environment, and with aging electrical infrastructure, I understand the importance of keeping our electrical infrastructure well-maintained and quickly replacing any failed components.
Nuclear Power Plant Operator
Nuclear physics has been one of my special interests since I was a young child. I have also studied the history of failure events at nuclear power plants, and I understand the extreme importance of maintaining and operating the control rods, cooling systems, and safety interlocks at these power plants.
Everyone knows not to increase power during a possible Xenon poisoning event, but some people will bend the rules in the face of social pressure. Not I! I prefer to operate by the book, especially in the face of an "unknown-unknown" Black Swan event. Operating from checklists even during a crisis was one of the first things I learned when I was working towards a private pilot's license in my early teens.
Transportation Storage and Distribution Manager
The first job I had in this field was working for Peak Oilfield Services (the company that builds the ice-roads on the artic slope every winter); I was an inventory and logistics specialist in their heavy machinery warehouse.
A few years later, after moving to a different state for a family emergency, I started work at an Amazon Fulfillment Center. At first, I was a temporary employee in the second-lowest pay grade. But I earned myself a promotion approximately every six months, until I reached a position 3 years into my Amazon career at about the highest wage compensation of any of the hourly employees. I eventually learned every process in the building from Receiving, to Inventory Control, Quality Assurance, Internal Safety Auditing (where I served as elected chairperson of the Safety Committee for two years), Lean Process Design, Reverse Logistics, Packing, Shipping, and finally Outbound Logistics.
My highest position at Amazon was called a Flow Coordinator, leveraging on-the-job training in project management, and bringing my Excel skills to the fore to manage shifts of up to 2,000 line workers in over 12 processes. I worked with each department manager, as well as senior and regional management, to ensure proper communication within each department in the building, If I discovered a department didn't have enough workers to keep up with the volume demanded by the day's logistics, for instance, I would request a temporary labor move to maximize plant throughput. I was also in charge of monitoring conveyance and order status to ensure product continued moving and did not get lost.
This position required a ton of initiative, and the ability to handle the stress of multiple critical deadlines per shift. As I shared personal responsibility for the financial performance of the whole building during my shift, I would often have to make a decision to leave my workstation and clear a conveyance jam before it became dangerous and expensive, as the maintenance department required a detailed ticket to be submitted before they would arrive to fix a problem. Of course, I would delegate the creation of the ticket to someone first.
I would have continued working in this position indefinitely, if it weren't for the plant's closure (due to increased compliance and utility costs, as well as company-wide macroeconomic changes).
Cyber Security Engineer
I have been actively teaching myself cyber-security since 2003, and have often fantasized about attending Def Con's annual event in Vegas. As the owner and manager of a Managed Services Provider, I continue to learn and keep current with cybersecurity in its practical applications. (I have to keep my clients safe!)
I run a customized Kali Linux on my main personal computer, and I can code fluently Python and C. I used to code in 16 bit machine code and write in other machine code languages as part of competitions. I have practical systems administration experience with bash scripts, xonsh scripts, Windows batch (.cmd) scripts, and AutoHotKey macros.
My favorite Hak5 tool is the Bash Bunny.
